Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Suspend this goal again

I didn’t pass the 70-484.
When I had no idea of the exam at all, I had thought I could make it if I studied hard for 2 weeks. But as soon as I read the exam ref book, I realized there were a lot of things to do and I didn’t have that much time to prepare for it.

I took the test anyway because it was free. Failed without surprise. I need to learn by doing real project instead of by reading the books alone. But I will suspend the goal again. Because I am not likely to work on window store app in the future.

I will keep one eye on this certification. Might have another try if I would have enough time to prepare and there would be another exam promotion from Microsoft.

Re-open after 2 years, and achieved the 1st milestone!

My boss encouraged me to get job related training. I checked Microsoft web site and found they launched a promotion last winter. Before May 31, 2014, people can take 3 exams at the price for 1.

I decided to give it a try even it’s very close to the deadline. I started in late April and had only several weeks to prepare.

I worked very hard for the last weeks. The good news is:
I passed the 1st exam! 70-483
My experience in C# and Java helped me a lot.

Looks like I already win back my money but still 2 more exams to take.

Go go fighting!

It has been a long time

I have finished the framework in the middle of year 2013, and 2 working sub components. It’s kind of working, but not good enough to be named as a product.
The progress is really slow, but I didn’t waste all my time.
In fact, beside my daily work, I worked on another hobby Android project in year 2013. and will focus on yet another APP in 2014.
It seems unlikely I finish this goal in 2014. But this hobby project will always on my working list. Won’t mark it as done until it’s good enough for my daily use.
