We’ve had our jabs, flights are (nearly) booked and we (sort of) know where we’re going – flying to Chennai then down the coast a bit, then over to Kerela, then Goa, then Who Knows Where. It’s nice to see what others have done…Leh is a possibility as well.

Having read a lot of “factual” books on this subject I was interested to see what this was going to be like. It’s not the best written book in the world, and the author definitely had the film in mind when he wrote it. I read the book and have not seen the film, but the book reads like a “book of the film”, if you know what I mean. If you’re interested in the subject, it’s a bit weak, but if you’re just after a good beach or airport book, then it’s probabaly OK. Not my Chalice of Sang Real, though. :-)

Ahh, the late lamented, extremely talented Mr Adams. A true writing genius. I read his books on long train journeys so I will laugh out loud and make people look! I first read HHG at the age of 9(I was a precocious reader) and love it still, and the radio series, and the Radio 4 readings of all his books. It was a shame about the film, but avid readers have hugely creatve imaginations and nothing will ever be as good as the images in your head!! For a while, I went out with a guy who thought he was the Electric Monk!
