In SF you can get by without a car. We don’t have as good as mass transit as NYC, London, or Paris – but you still don’t need a car. MUNI will usually get you there, and if you’re in a hurry, a cab ride is less than $10. For weekend trips or moving stuff, you can rent a car or truck for $30 a day. I’m going to look into some of the car share companies once we get more settled. I think ideally I do eventually want a scooter or motorcycle as a good comprimise.
