stop biting my nails
After 48 years I quit!

If I can do it, anyone can do it! I used to bite my nails so bad that they would be chewed up halfway down the bed of my nails. I tried so many times to quit but could never stick to it. One day a friend noticed my hands and commented on how bad they looked and I was so embarrassed I just quit right then.

One thing that has really helped me was going to the store and buying things to help me take care of my nails til they grew out enough that I wasn’t embarrassed to go and get a manicure. I put peroxide around my nails to help them heal up good too. They were terrible and infected from biting them for so long. I got some of those wooden nail sticks and starting cleaning them good and pushing the cuticles back so they would look nice.

Once they grew out I started going to our local cosmetology school every 2 weeks or so and getting a manicure. They only charge $5.00 and do a really good job.

It’s nice now to actually get complimented on my nails. I never thought that would happen. I used to hide my hands when I had to deal with people, like when I handed them money. But not anymore.

It sure is hard to do!

I am terrible about trying to stick to any kind of “diet”, but I have hbp and really need to lose about 70 pounds to get down to a healthy weight. 2 weeks ago I made a list of all the bad (unhealthy) foods I eat and decided to just cut those totally out of my diet. That includes any kind of soda, candy, desserts, and just sugary stuff in general. I’ve also cut way down on carbs in general since they convert to sugar.

I’m not doing too bad. I’ve gone from 3-4 sodas a day to having just had 2 in the past 2 weeks. I’ve also just had 2 of the little miniature candies in 2 weeks. Not too bad.

I have to say I am feeling a lot better and have lost about 3 pounds. But for the first week or so I literally had no energy at all.
