They were slightly imperfect (a reflection of my true self), and my mother’s first comment was, “Where’s the fringe,” (of COURSE it was), but nonetheless, I knitted and gave scarves to my sister-in-law and my mother. They both wanted fringe, so I hoofed it to Michael’s, and let them choose their own fringe-yarn – and fringe they had!
They loved their scarves so much that they showed off to my mother-in-law, who now feels left out, and I have another scarf to knit.
Don’t be misled, however. I did not follow a pattern. I just cast-on what looked right, and went until it looked long enough, then I bound-off – and voila!
If I’d waited until I was fully capable of reading patterns, it would have never happened.
We’ll call these “leap of faith” scarves. :D

How I did it: I got a Klean Kanteen and I fill it twice a day (minimum) using the filtered water from my refrigerator. I carry it with me everywhere, to the point where now...I feel naked without it. It's 40 oz, so if I finish it twice, I know I've had all of my water for the day. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I paid the nice folks. They tacked my horse. I got up there. I rode Buttercup (my horse). We had a cowboy supper at the top of the mountain, and then we rode back down. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I know the people to whom I wrote, but you can visit writeaprisoner.com or you can ask the Chaplain at your local jail for the name of an inmate who would like to receive some letters.I recommend asking for the name of someone who receives little, or nothing. I visit inmates, and I have seen their faces light up when bills and junk mail roll in, just because it's a connection to the outside.I do not know the people I visit. Th… Read how I did it…

Well, I can knit the very basics now, and in the interest of furthering my goal, I asked for (and received) knitting and crocheting supplies for Christmas.
I can barely follow a pattern (a goal I shall soon conquer), but I can cast-on, knit, purl, slip stich and bind off, so I say that’s a goal achieved!
