I ended up getting into the course that I wanted and eventually getting a scholarship.
All in all I can say to whoever else is doing the HSC simply give it your best shot and you’ll then have the rest of your life to look forward to =]

Python gets out of your way and just lets you just program. It’s a great language for rapid prototyping and rapid development, even if it isn’t great for computationally intensive tasks (such as raytracers, etc etc)
If people want to have a look at some of the projects I’ve done with Python (Kohonen Self Organizing Map, simple raytracer etc) have a look here – I plan on writing them up into a comprehensive introduction to each of the topics listed there, but that’s for the future.
The main piece of advise I can give is just experiment, failure isn’t a big thing, and stay glued to Google when you have problems – if you have a problem, chances are someone else has had it at some point too
Good luck, and if you think I can help feel free to ask!
I was given a telescope for my birthday, so I raced off into my field (rural property) to set it up and gaze at the cosmos. Well, it’s a piece of s—t sadly … So all depressed, I decided to lie down in the field and just kind of lament…
And then I saw a shooting star. And another, and another. By the end of the night I had seen FIVE shooting stars! And yes, made a wish on every one of them. At the fifth, I was running out of wishes, so decided to go back inside.
Now, almost every other night, I lie down in my field and just stare at the stars. The most relaxing thing ever!
And for your information, I just saw another one tonight! =)
Best of luck to budding star finders! _
