.. or come home with a wet sail. Am just about to start reading Shelby Foote’s Civil War Narrative which is about 3000 pages all up. Mind you, starting it doesn’t mean reading all three volumes in one go, but I figure if I enjoy the first volume I’m going to have to stick with the others otherwise I’ll never end up reading them… here goes..

This has been on my list for as long as I can remember. I even went shopping with a photographer mate a few years ago for a film SLR camera so he could give me some lessons. I didn’t end up buying any camera and my mate didn’t end up teaching me unfortunately.. BUT! I’ve just placed an order to get a new Pentax digital SLR after being inspired by a friend’s recent travel photos which were taken with the same camera (and she’s an SLR newbie). Yay!
As the designated food preparer in this household I’m frankly a bit tired of spag bol and bottled sauces. And after spending a fine evening with K and L and witnessing K throw together a scrumptious meal with some simple ingredients (which apparently was all that was left in the house) I feel inspired to learn how to really cook.. that is, without a recipe book or something that just needs added water..
