When the weather is bad its very bad…but thats like most places however on a good day it is the most amazing … most peaceful place ever. I remember watching a snow petrel flying about in this icy wilderness and it was so incredibly peaceful, a white meditation. Also the majestic beauty of an ice berg could be used to define peaceful.

Working at Halley VI
I have just spent the Antarctic Summer 07/08 working at the new Halley VI site on the Brunt Ice Shelf. Leading a small team of six, installing the infrastructure ready for the when construction of the main building is complete.
It was an amazing experience and the Sea Ice alone was worth it…nevermind the Ice bergs, atmospheric effects or the Penguins.
I would encourage anyone to go…its a must do.
