Whatever you want to call it, it’s fun! Look for a real martial-arts school in your area. In addition to the many Asian disciplines, there are Western (European) Martial Arts or “WMA” as they are referred to. You can learn to fight with a rapier (think Zorro or Princess Bride), basket-hilted broadsword (think Rob Roy) or longsword (think Braveheart). There are many other styles of swords and schools that teach them.
If you are in the Seattle area, check out Academia Della Spada at http://academiadellaspada.com – they are a serious historical martial arts school with great instructors!
If you are having a hard-time being motivated, join a martial-arts or self-defense class (one that gives you a good workout) for at least two-days a week, then you only have one other day to work out on your own!
