I was sitting at a Starbucks on day when a 18 yr old kid asked me if I had a light. I told him I didnt and continued with my cell phone call. After I hung up he asked me what time it was. He happened to be sitting at the table next to me. We started small talk and then before you know it he told me how he was homeless and had nothing (long story short.) “AAAhhh” I thought to myself.. that would explain a few things. So I told him to meet me at the starbucks the following day. I went home and found a list of shelters, printed them off and met him the next day. We called around and found one for him. I drove him there, got him set up and gave him my cell phone number (no other information though… you cant be too careful these days) He called me and now has a job and was renting… I dont think the renting situation was working out so well, but he was in the process of looking for something else. I havent heard from him in a while, but I hope he is doing well. I tried to give him a small foundation to work with and the rest is up to him.

We have started recycling in my house!! We are also limiting the amount of water we use and setting up a clothes line so we can limit the amount of electricity we use. I have also started shopping at farmers markets where he food is fresher and cheaper and its a good way to support our local farmers.

I am blessed to have alot of room in my rented home. The landlord had his “workshop” (which is an addition) with a giant table and a wall of shelves with a door that opens onto a patio/back yard. I knew immediately that I would make a studio out of it! I cleaned it out and put all of my art supplies in it. Its a bit hot because it isnt air conditioned, but a fan does the job! All I need is a wheel-but I do more sculpture work anyway, so I can wait on that. To most people this may not count as a studio, but its my special space where only art takes place- and no one other than me is allowed in there. ITS MY SANCTUARY!!! WOOHOO!!!
