It takes 3,500 calories to equal one pound of body weight. Generally, many dieters dump an average of 1,000 calories per day in an effort to lose 2 pounds of body fat per week.
The key to losing weight is to decrease the amount of calories one intake vs. the amount on burns with exercise/activities. If one was to eat just 500 fewer calories per day one should expect to lose 1 pound of body weight per week. (if not MUCH more considering water weight)
I know some people lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks with the help offered on this site.
