At some point after my last entry, I surpassed the 1000 friend mark on Facebook. Now, this is great for many reasons, but there is still a lot of work to do.
To assist in my pursuit, I have changed the name of the blog to the Twitter account, oh yeah, I’m on Twitter now. So, instead of the Sterlingflow name…which I love, I’ve decided to go by OriginalNajeema.
An article about Julia Allison suggested that I go by a name that my people (the few ppl that I have) could find and follow me. So, despite not really wanting to be known by my first name, I’m completely embracing it. Plus, there are 9 other Najeemas on Facebook and probably a whole lot more in the world.
So, a name like OriginalNajeema may be ironic, but another Najeema somehow beat me to all the blog and sign in names…kinda sucks, but what can you do. {Dark Angel fans might see the homage to Original Cindy.}
The mid February summary is that I’m working on it, and continuing to do so. It’s a goal that requires a plan. Good thing is, I have the tools…more details to come.

Letting it Go
10 months ago
When I was home for Christmas, I realized that I was starting to turn into my mother. Now, I don’t LOVE clothes like she does, but her love has passed on a great deal of items. Most of these items I wear. I have the best selection of professional wear that any woman can ask for. That’s why I’m waiting for my appointment from the new administration. But many of the quirkier items often sit in the bottom of a box or in the back of the closet.
I have however found a new solution to the problem of too many clothes and not enough space. Swap parties are a semi new phenom sweeping the US and the UK. I wanted to hold a swap party for my upcoming bday, but decided on a purse party instead. But to get rid of clothes, shoes and other accessories, I am now relying on a site called Swapstyle.
It’s simply, register and upload pics of items that you are willing to trade or sell. Other members will contact you about items they are interested in and negotiations begin. Very simple interface, think early Myspace. Forums and chat options exist, and very simple swapping options. Make friends like Myspace. My favorite aspect is the style diary (which helps me become an internet celebrity by posting fabulous pics of my style.)
Swapstyle isn’t just for clothes, consider it for shoes, bags, and even makeup (new hopefully).
See you on the swap, and from here on out, I consider this the close-out of this 43 Things goal.

Nearly a year after setting this goal, I’d like to reevaluate becoming an internet celebrity. While I understand such a goal is difficult to measure, there are certainly things I can do to move towards stardom and fame. So, let’s evaluate.
1) Myspace …. I’ve completely abandoned all 5 of my myspace pages. I can’t remember when I last signed in. I can’t even tell you how many friends I have. I’m too selective. Maybe I’ll go back to it. That’s doubtful with the emergence of Facebook.
2) Facebook….I’m all over it. Over 100 group memberships and close to 1000 friends in the DC area. I totally LOVE facebook
3) Twitter….I haven’t quite gotten the hold of it. I mean, truthfully, I find it hard enough telling the world what I’m up to. Sometimes it’s personal. But it works for some people. Maybe I’ll get into it. Will it help, or be one more thing that I can’t keep up with.
4) Speaking of which (the blog), things that are difficult to keep up with. The blog I set up last year has been through a few changes. And while I want to be an internet celebrity, I need to remember my other profession and what it would take for me to get on the radar of the powers that be. So while many of my other friends can be a little bit more liberal, I have to be a little bit more conservative about my posts. (Especially if I’m looking for a new position….let’s leave it at that).
So, basically, I’m establishing SterlingFlow as many places as possible on the internet. Something will pop, I’m sure. I’ve renamed the blog Hell in A Handbag. I feel like it fits.
