Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

My 7-month-old foster daughter

1. She is happy, healthy, and developing like she should – despite a rough start in the world.
2. She smiles at us like “Wow! It’s YOU! What wonderful thing will happen next?”
3. Every social worker who has come here has commented on how “bonded” we are to each other.
4. She cut her first tooth!
5. Her laid-back happy personality seems to fit in just right with her two-year-old sister’s hyper Type “A” energy (and is a relief for me!).

My sweet seven month-old

1. Bathtime smiles, giggles, squeals, and wiggles.

2. A sweet little tummy on which to blow “zerberts!” And say, “I ZERBERT you!”

3. Her ongoing fascination with her hands. So funny!

One more… Singing “Skidamarink a Dink a Dink” to make her smile through her tears.

My two year-old girl

1. She squinches up her face and blinks both eyes hard, in response to my winking at her. She thinks she’s winking back. She laughs because I’m laughing (no clue why) and it’s the most fun ever.

2. Watching her trade her green beans to her friend (also two)for more salmon. They are so sweet and polite to each other. Not always, but this time they were.

3. My little giggling pajama’d whirling dervish, after bath tonight. “Whoooo, this is FUN!”... famous last words right before a devastating crash that required lots of hugs, kisses, and TWO bedtime stories to remedy.

She is so awesome. I love being her mommy. It’s worth the utter exhaustion, because I know it’s only for a short time.
