get rid of my clutter
My sparkling sink 10 months ago

I swear, I didn’t think it would work, but I followed FlyLady’s Day 1 instruction to shine my kitchen sink before going to bed, and 3 days later, my sink is still sparkling clean and clear at night before I go to bed. I’ve even been doing it with (gasp) pleasure, if you can believe it, because I know that when I wake up and stagger into the kitchen in the morning, I won’t have to face a sink- and counter-full of dirty dishes, cups, cutlery, pans, food wrappers, crumbs, spills, etc. And when I get home after work, I ditto. It has made me feel better than I’ve felt in months!

So, then, I did the same with my bathroom sink, though that wasn’t next on the task list. It’s just that those two sinks were so disgusting, they made me feel dirty just to look at them. Now, no more used washcloths, hairy hairbrush, blow dryer, used Q-tips, almost empty bottles of lotion and hair product, scummy soap dish, water marks, etc. to have to see when I get ready for work in the morning.

Even though the rest of the house is still cluttered and messy and, yes, filthy, with my two sinks (and, by extension, entire rooms, because I couldn’t seem to leave it at shining the sinks but had to shine up the rest of the kitchen and bathroom), I feel so clean and, well, happy.

Who knew such small changes would make such a big difference

Keeping Track 10 months ago

is sooo hard for me! I started out like gangbusters on Saturday, running over to the computer to record my intake immedately after eating/drinking. Same with Sunday, although I strolled to the computer rather than ran. Yesterday, I recorded everything until dinner when it all fell apart, mainly because I didn’t measure the stuff I added to the pot (chicken strips, brown rice, oriental vegetables (frozen), and spinach (also frozen). Oh, and a splash of garlick chicken soup. Eaten with a small glass of blueberry/pomegranite juice. Today, I was all “eh, I’ll do it when I get home from work,” until I got to this site and read some of the posts. Now, I can say that I wrote my intake in my daily calendar so I wouldn’t forget, but it was a close call.

Anyway, I’m going to do this for just one month, that’s all, anyone can do practically anything for a month, right? After that, I can stop. I give myself permission to stop. After this one little month.
