After I sold the condo, I bought a car. I spent several days agonizing over the decision, but ended up buying a new 2008 Toyota Corolla. I mostly love it, and am very happy with the decision. Of course I buy a car right before gas prices climb, but that’s okay. The freedom and flexibility the car gives me is worth an extra few bucks when I fill the tank.

How I did it: I sold my condo (one of my 43 things), and couldn't decide where to live in Chicago. So, I decided to put things in storage and travel for a few months, fully intending to return to Chicago. After two months travelling, I realized I hadn't given a single thought about returning to the Windy City. I'd realied how much happier I was being in places with less traffic, less violence, more open spaces, friendlier people. … Read how I did it…
When I put the condo on the market in January, I figured it would take months of showings before anything happened.
12 days later I had two offers. It was nuts. Six weeks later I closed. There was definitely a lot of good timing, luck, and the universe helping me out involved. I’m grateful that the sale was so easy, and I’ve really loved life since then. I don’t have a new home yet, but have been travelling around exploring the southwest, and am super happy.
Monday – had a crappy day at work, so I just left and went to lunch at a new place, started a new book. Went to dinner by myself. Had a bottle of wine, and read a lot of “Eat Pray Love”.
Tuesday – put the condo on the market!
Wednesday – MeetUp dinner at Sangria
Thursday – new hair color, new stylist
Friday – went somewhere I usually don’t for lunch. Not new, but something I don’t do usually.
Saturday – had the first buyers come by. Went to the office party at Vermillion.
Sunday – tried the new Uncommon Ground, more open houses…
