learn how to drive stick-shift
I need to learn this.

I need to learn to drive a stick so I can drive my boyfriend’s car in an emergency situation, or if I’m the only sober person left.

He says he’ll teach me, so we just have to get around to it.

sent my poems in to Poetry magazine

I sent four of my favourite poems in to Poetry magazine, and I’m waiting for a response. I keep checking the status with the account I created at their website, but it still hasn’t been reviewed yet, and it’s been 11 days already. I don’t feel very optimistic about the success of these poems at such a prestigious publication, but if they reject me, I’ll just have to try again and submit somewhere else.
