I read this when I was in my early to mid teens, so I didn’t understand much about the political ramifications of the philosophy in it. Now I know that a lot of people I respect object to Ayn Rand, because she makes it sound like selfish singleminded focus is what will help you achieve your positive goals. Not much about the realistic difficulty many people in this world have in getting out of their difficult surroundings. Nor much about helping one’s neighbor.
Still a very inspiring book, and exciting to read. I loved it, even if I now don’t agree with all of it. I highly recommend it as lots of food for thought. And very readable! My favorite Ayn Rand novel.
