Everyone always asks if they hurt. Well, what do you think?! But, nothing is ever as painful as child birth and we’re all here, right?! :)
Words of advice:- Find a reputable artist—judge this person by talent (look through their portfolio) and by their professionalism when you meet them
- Know what you want or at least be able to explain it. The very worst is to give your tattoo artist a vague idea of what you want, have them spend the time drawing it up for you, only for you to say that it’s completely not what you have pictured in your head.
- Realize that you may have to go bigger than you thought originally. Many people have unrealistic ideas of how big they want something. Talk it over with your tattoo artist who should be able to give you sound advice regarding how your tattoo will age.
- Be prepared to be obsessive with aftercare. This is almost the most important part of the tattoo process. No matter how awesome your tattoo looks when you leave, it will only stay that way if you follow the aftercare advice religiously. Otherwise you risk infection, which can lead to scarring, blurring, etc.
ENJOY!
