I’m just in my first year of the PhD program, so getting my doctorate doesn’t even seem real yet, but as long as I take it one semester at a time, I think I can do this!

My family is full of artistic people, and for some reason, I’ve never really picked up a paint brush (not counting the times when I messed around with watercolors as a kid). So I bought my first set of acrylics and I painted a lighthouse scene with a simple ocean backdrop and dune grass in the foreground. Simple, but I’m happy enough with it to keep going and learn how to use new techniques to create more advanced scenes. Wish me luck!
