Probably accounted for slight weight loss vs a gain.

Something simple – Changing the focus from the scale to the kitchen. Idea is to fuel during the day (got this from Bicycle mag) then eat light at night.
So, just fresh veggie, or steamed, with 4 oz meat or some beans.

I’m doing it regular now, with my bike. 2-3 times/week. the hard part is getting up earlier.
The cool part is accomplishing something that helps the pocketbook and the carbon reduction thing all at the same time.

week beginning June 1.
If I have my act together, my gear will be loaded and on the bike for work on the 1st. End of day, mass transit to Issaquah.
Saturday – Issaquah to Northbend
Sunday – Northbend to (I think) Easton Lake Park. This is the tough part. The other day I was telling a friend how I wanted to make sure and get to the tunnel before night fall. Then it hit me that it didn’t matter.
Sunday – Ellensburg. all down hill, and that crazy horse canyon or whatever it’s called.
Notes: If my first day is a non work day, probably would be good to hang in Seattle a little (Ivar’s), kind of leisure my way up to Issaquah. Need to check out camping grounds. bring my fly fishing gear?

Okay it was two weeks ago, but catching up here. This is something on the way towards Rainier.
Getting there is easy. I’ll put some map links in here later.
The first mile is probably one on the steeper segments; and the last.
Coming down is harder. I know my legs weren’t ready for it. I came down too fast. Next time, and I want to do this next month, I’d say I want to kind of stroll down.

I’ve got a doc’s appointment tomorrow, so will verify against their scale. Was actually better 10 days ago before beer, and then, cookies, and fries (ugh). I think I’ll check out this challenge thing.

Another one of these starting point things. I’ve got a Docs appointment today, so everything kind of fits together nicely. I’ve been up and down on this weight thing before: maxed at 320 (years ago) and minned at 228 (97). I’d say I averaged right around what I am now, but need to lose it because of the age and arthritus (ugh!) thing. So here goes … Slaying the Dragon

-Practice, Practice, Practice
-Make it harder on yourself: leave your pack in the car, hang out with friends who detest smoking, ride bike, run, whatever
-mix up your habits so there isn’t anything in particular you do when you smoke. Obviously, some of these are harder than others.
-Keep all that up. For as long as it takes, then try going 1/2 day, day, whatever
-Then do the cold turkey thing. Look at this as drifting away from the shore long enough that you forget where it’s at
-Tell your friends you’re going to be on the wagon (alcohol) for awhile.
