We were both raised by laid back, loving families. And now add to that layer a thick coat of world-wide experience. We have learned to engage anyone, befriend strangers with the quickness of a breath, and diffuse tension in the oddest situations by reading others and just flat out being kind. Aren’t these skills of value in a way to make money? To run a business? To move in a direction where we can be fiscally independent, in control of our own financial destiny without checking upstairs on our decisions?
Travel may have absolved us of the required adult moves we ‘need’ to make as we move forward in our lives, and even more so showed us the alternative path that we can navigate with confidence and aplomb.
Every season it starts to stir up…on the Bus ride from home to work, rain coming down, hollow responsibilities looming…that is when the backpack starts to come to the forefront of the brain. Where would i jump on a plane to tonight? What weather would i look for, and what kind of culture? How cheap would the place be? What would the women be like? What would the surf be like?
Its relaxing to think how much i could read, relax, let the brain atrophy and dive into meeting new people. ahhh, the glory.
