Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Play catch with my dad and little brother- It was nice to have some quality time with just the three of us in the backyard.
Blow bubbles- A little girl at the camp I was volunteering at wanted to play with the bubbles, so I blew them for her. (:
Waterfight- In my defense, my brother started it.
Swim- The camp I was at was right by a lake. It was hot, the water was cold. It was lovely.
Art project- With my best friend leaving for college, I made her an altered book to remember me by.
Watercolor- A couple of pages in the book I made had watercolor paintings on them.
Hand print art- Again in the book, I used hand prints to make angel wings.
Eat snocones- My little sister has a snocone making machine, and my brother decided to make some for all of us.
Go to a baseball game- My town has its own minor league baseball team, and it’s always fun to spend some time there with my family.
Eat ice cold watermelon outside on a hot day- One of the many things we had to snack on at camp.
Build a fire and make s’mores- Because they taste even better when you’re camping under the stars.
Go on a boat ride- Does white water rafting count?
Turn off the TV for a day- Much easier when you’re in the woods and there’s no TV to turn on.
Write a HAPPY poem- Not my best work, but I wrote it.
Make good art- I am really proud of my art project. :)

Wish wren a joyous birthday on August 24...Happy Birthday, wren!!!
Joyeux anniversaire!

Happy birthday, Wren! I hope it’s filled with cake, friends, and happiness.

learn to shoot (read all 2 entries…)
The local firing range...

...had a “youth” day with a a ton of different high powered weapons. After shooting an M-16, Thompson Sub Atomatic, black powder rifles, a Gatling gun, and a .50 caliber, I think I can safely say I know how to shoot (although I can’t do it well.)

Recently completed:

Library- My little sister is a big reader, and while I’ve been a little busy to read too much, she’s kept us going to the library religiously this summer.
Breakfast for Dinner- In an effort to make sure I can survive on my own, I have been cooking dinner every Wednesday and Friday nights. So this past Wednesday, I made a giant breakfast, with pancakes, sausage, toast, scrambled eggs and orange juice.
Stargaze- A friend of mine spent the night recently, and around midnight we went out to the hot tub in my backyard. From there, we watched the stars.
Eat snow cones- I don’t particularly like snow cones, so this wasn’t my favorite one on the list. But my little brother made me one, and…well…How could I refuse?
Origami- I folded some more paper cranes. I’m getting closer to my goal of 1,000!
Fireworks- Happy 4th of July!

Summer 2013 Bucket List (read all 4 entries…)

Parade- A local town was having it’s annual celebration, and, just like every year, it kicked off with a parade.
Ride bikes- While my little brother and sister were participating in an arts and crafts project at the library, my father and I rode bikes around the river and downtown.
Make homemade cookies- My little sister and I made chocolate chip and walnut cookies, which are, if I do say so myself, quite delicious.
Go to a baseball game- My home team lost, but it was a close game right down to the last inning. A ton of near impossible plays were made, and it was a great game, especially for just a minor league team.

Evaluation of 12/26

-Finish December themed goals on my Winter bucket list Didn’t really do anything on this one…
-Make a to-do list each day (and actually follow it) I actually made a to-do list! And semi-followed it.
-Exercise each day I actually exercised. A lot (for me). So I feel kind of proud.
-Get enough sleep (not necessarily eight hours) And I was actually well rested. I woke up early, and later fell back asleep. It was nice.
-Leave just enough time to be bored to get creative again I was bored enough to see potential in a broken tea cup. So.
-Eat reasonably healthy This one…did not go so well.
