It’s my goal that by my 26th birthday (Feb ‘08), I’ll have started my own photography business…so it’s time to upgrade from my film SLR to a DSLR. I want a Canon so I can interchange lenses between my 35mm and my digital. Does anyone have recommendations on which Canon would be best? I don’t have a ton of money to spend, so if we could keep it under $800…that would be good…and I’m willing to go refurbished or second-hand!

My weight loss goal started because I’m going on vacation next week and wanted to look a little more decent for the beach…but now I’m really excited about it and plan to continue after I get back from vacation.

So I’ve already lost about 8lbs, and I’ve got another 15 to go…but I’m confident I can do it. I’ve tried to lose weight numerous times in the past, but have always been unsuccessful due to low will power. This time I started by doing the Atkins diet, but eating healthy (no red meat or bacon – mostly raw veggies, chicken and tuna), and I’ve started going to aerobics twice a week and Pilates once a week. I already feel much better, and I just started this new regimen about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I know we can all do it – so good luck to all of you!
I just did this for the first time this past weekend. It was a great experience for me, and I definitely want to do it again. I ate half of an eighth and washed them down with a couple of glasses of wine (but I’m definitely going to try this orange juice thing that everyone’s mentioning). It took about 30-45 minutes for them to really kick in and I peaked at about 2 hours into the trip. I ate them with one of my really good friends and at first we were sitting out on his porch in the dark listening to Portishead…everything looked more 3-D than real life…and I felt “warm and fuzzy” all over. My body felt really heavy and I didn’t want to get up. Then we went to his bedroom and lit some candles and threw on a Bright Eyes album and just layed there…watching the candle light flicker on the wall was amazing. It sounds pretty lame just talking about it, but experiencing it was just so awesome. Then we went into a hysterical fit where everything was so damn funny. We laughed so hard we couldn’t stop crying…I wish I was that funny in real life…hahaha. Anyway – I completely recommend trying it. I would just say that it helps having a good attitude and being excited about it before you start, and be somewhere familiar to you.
