How I did it: I had an opportunity to work on an international business project, so I chose Vietnam from the list of possible countries, since I had always wanted to visit. I spent a week in the country (and a few more weeks in neighboring countries), focusing on the southern area around Saigon. There are so many goals on here about “knowing what I want to do with the rest of my life.” Sure, that’s a great goal in some ways, but it also puts an incredible amount of pressure on you to identify at this very moment what will make you happy for the next 20 or 40 or 80 years!
I say, try to identify what you want to do with the next year, or two, or five years of your life. Once you’ve got those rolling, then see what comes up next. Chances are, your idea of what you want to do will be changing all the time!
