It’s always been in the back of my mind to visit Africa. I’ve always lived vicariously through others. I have NO idea why I never just bought a plane ticket, packed my bags and went there.
I don’t want to travel alone, though. I need to join one of the group tours. I want to see my motherland first-hand before I die. I wish I knew exactly where my roots began.

Since I was a small child, I’ve always been compelled to draw and paint. Everyone knew I was going to grow up to be an artist. In my early 20s, after college, everything slowed down when I got married. My focus and energy changed. After my divorce 14 years later, I got antsy to create again, but felt hopelessly “blocked” and afraid. That block has lifted and I’m having fun rediscovering different mediums and techniques. I’m 48 and feel a bit depressed that most of my life was wasted regarding art, but I refuse to ever stop again. I really, really want to support myself with my art. I don’t yet have an audience but I hold out hope.
