Had

An apple, and a bunch of carrots today….I probably need to do more, I’m a little sick of carrots, but they are so easy to eat…

Study

I actually studied outside of work for approximately 30 minutes…
Hypertensive Emergencies, I understand them much better now, very interesting and rare, mostly I’ve seen urgencies, which are serious, but not emergencies.

Finally

I did the entire 43 minutes today. It was great. I actually felt a little tired and started to sweat a bit….
I hope this will help in my goal to reduce.
It was a really nice walk…and I’m glad I finally found a good place to walk, away from traffic. It may be abit too isolated to be safe, but then again, if I go early in the morning, I imagine all the criminals will be asleep.

Wetlands

Are not very interesting in the Winter, or at least not this wetland. It is a swamp. That said, Idid see a bunch of cypress, alder and slippery elm today, and 2 squirrels who looked utterly surprised and alarmed that anyone was walking there…
At the end of the walk is a nice observation area, and the water is very still, and peaceful, This place must be very interesting in the spring….

practicing

The owner of the B and B where I am doomed for 12 more weeks, for some reason got up very early this am (0700) and made a large breakfast for himself, with bacon and eggs, the smell wafting up to my area and waking me up….that was not so bad, except since then he has been cleaning or something and banging tons of pots and pans, and slamming doors, and I find I am a bit annoyed, after all, this is a bed and breakfast. I would prefer he bang doors at 2 in the afternoon. All that said, I have decided that I am simply going to accept that for some reason he feels the need to do this at an early hour. I do not know why, and I’m not going to be concerned about why…and I completely forgive the fellow….
I feel very nobel, but really, I thinkhe deserves a bit of forgiveness, I can tell it isn’t easy being him.

Tate Street Coffee Shop

I LOVE this place, though it has been a while since I’ve been in the neighborhood, I think it’d definitely a place that makes America Great.
There is no way anyone could not love this place, which is why of course it has been an independent small business success. I used to go everyday, for an everything bagel toasted dry and a very nice cup of joe… (cost about 1.95 for both)I used to share a table with a variety of folks, a fellow student, a professor, and often an older person from the community.
Even now, when I come in after being away well over a year the owner still remembers my name, and what I studied at school which surprisingly make me feel very special and nice…I don’t know how he does it.
Starbucks simply cannot compare.
I was mightily disappointed when I moved away to Chapel Hill and failed to find a place that was as inclusive of all people, most of their independent coffee places seem to cater to one aspect of the population, and do not have a broad appeal. We’ve started to go to Caribou, but the packaged approach with preprinted advertisements from HQ, and the cutsey napkins, are less appealing than Matt greeting me each morning…and some darn fine coffee to boot.
Greensboro may not be the mecca of culture, but Tate St Coffee is amazing, and something I really and truely miss…

Yuugh

I must tel Tess’s owner that I can not adopt her because I am stuck in a B and B for 12 more weeks, they will not want to wait for 12 weeks, so oh well. I will have to wait, until I finish this contract for a furry friend.

Down another 0.9 lbs

SO far this week each time I weigh I have been lighter, 2.9 pounds so far….I’ve been walking a little, but not really watching my diet, but it is improving since I started on the fruit and veggie kick. I hope I really can lose some, because I’m tired of looking this way.

River Walk

Part of my exersise today went along the river. Today it being January it is pretty ugly, but there is a nice swampy pool, which in the spring, I hope will have a lot of froggies and such.
We’ll see.

Carrots

seem like the easiest things, I keep wondering if I am going to overdose on Carrots.
Grocery day today. I got some Mineola Oranges, and apples, and some more carrots, as well as beans- but beans? are they considered vegetable?
Broccoli is currently cooking in the microwave…

34...

well, its what I could do. I was out doing my walk, and got called by my employer asking if I could do some extra work. Overtime means a lot more cahs an hour, so I need to say yes, so I can achieve other goals such as save money.
But I figure 34 is better than 0 minutes….

EMTALA

unbeknownst to many American in the US we have a Law, EMTALA
Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. WHich means that if someone presents to the ED for a problem or in labor, we must provide appropriate care within our scope including a medical screening exam and treatment, regardless of a persons ability to pay…

Although this has led to some abuse and overcrowding on the ED’s in the nation, I still think this particular piece of legislation is one of the things that does make living in America great!

The Bright side.

I’m doing a contract in a very isolated SOuthern TOwn where there is nothing to do.

But the bright side: The contract work si not too taxing, so I have plenty of time to study for my certification exam, and write letters, and pay bills while I am at work…
Not bad, and I know in 13 weeks I will not have time to sit down again as things move on!

Bleeeech

Last night we were not busy at work and I had to actually listen to my two other co-workers discuss their sex lives, including reading certain explicit emails from their boyfriends…
This was just foul. I mean, I suppose people do discuss sex at work, but I really do not want to hear from my 45 yr old co-worker what nasty thing her BF wrote. (Or my 20 yr old co-worker for that matter)...

Is this an American thing, or is this just a person whois a bit mentally ill???
If its American, I can’t adjust to that…. bleeech.
