I gave birth to my son on October 18 this year (he’s 11 weeks old now). I had him at home with a midwife, without any drugs or interventions, in 8 hours of labor. It was the most powerful experience of my life.

I don’t have a chest yet, and my dad is supposed to make one for me. He made my mom one after they got married. It was a just a blanket chest for her, but I’ve never found one as perfect for me as hers.
I already have assorted china (none of it really matching, but all pretty) that my great aunt gave me. It belonged to my great-grandmother once. I have tons of baby stuff my mom has saved for me. I’m making a comforter (not perfect, but workable) and I’m tatting some doilies and hopefully a matching tablecloth. It will be a lot of work. I also need some bed linens, table settings, and other household essentials.
You know, I can’t really see it, because it’s only a couple pounds, and I can’t say I necessarily feel it in my body yet, because I haven’t lost that much, but I tell you what: mentally, I can feel it so strongly! It’s like, yeah, I can do this! THis is the first step in something bigger. Definitely worth it.
