The hardest thing about working on this goal is coming to the realization that I am not actually a kind or loving person. I am with a select few; my husband, my kids, my few close friends, some extended family members. Pretty much everyone else I view through the lens of suspicion and mistrust and disregard. Of course this affects how I interact and communicate with people. If I can keep kindness at the forefront of my heart this will help me communicate with anybody better…I don’t have to like you to be kind to you.

How I did it: I got over shyness primarily by going to therapy to understand some of my issues. I also made a conscious choice and effort to focus more on others instead of myself. Lastly, I worked and continue to work on my self-esteem so that I don't feel so judged and self-conscious about myself. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw a recent photo of myself and got mad at how slumped over I looked. So I decided then and there to change it. Having good posture involves being aware of your body...you have to constantly monitor that you are holding yourself erect. But after a week I no longer felt I was 'making' myself stand or sit up straight, I just was. It felt natural and easy. But the initial week was so hard! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I figure out where all the people like me are hiding...they are hiding in plain sight doing the things I like to do! So I did it by going places that involve the things I am interested in doing. Also by making an effort to meet and get to know new people. This really challenged me to go outside my comfort zone because I am an introvert and thus naturally reticent. I am also somewhat shy, but this is helping me to get over that.Overall, I … Read how I did it…

Still hooping, I now hoop on days I don’t go to the gym. So it ends up being 3-4 days a week. Still have my $3 hoop from Walmart…I suppose I should upgrade!
