So I’ve been thinking. How do I become who I want to be? I feel like my identity, while fully formed, could use a bit of work. I spend so little time engaged in life – and I’m not talking about externally obvious accomplishments. I want to be able to commit fully to living, instead of just muddling along and be not hindered by fear that I won’t cut it. It’s like there are little goblins grabbing at my shirttails, trying to slow me down. If they were real goblins instead of self-generated thoughts and beliefs, they’d be easier to get rid of.
I’ve met only a handful of people who I would consider to be doing this. No procrastinating, no worries that things won’t work – just trying, enjoying, learning, being. That’s what I want.
I’m not sure how to get there, except to try to pay attention to myself and recognize when the goblins are at work…so I can slay them!! Wow, that sounds kind of harsh – oh, well.

and it’s got to end! The sweetness is sooooo rewarding, but the energy level and mood changes suck somewhat. So starting yesterday, the only sugar I will be eating will be in the form of fruit. I already feel a little dull and tired – but (fortunately?) I haven’t given up coffee – one thing at a time.
Non-crashing energy levels here I come!
1. While biking home I passed a couple of oak trees and they had the most beautiful shiny, bright spring-green leaves. Wow!
2. And then, while biking through the experimental farm, all the cows were in the pasture by the path. So I stopped for a visit (making sure no one was around before talking to them). They make a lovely sound as they munch-munch – it’s soothing, like the sound of a stream.
3. I am grateful for exhaustion – the kind you get when you push your body, making it work just a little bit harder than it’s used to – despite protests from the old brain (saying – really you don’t have to do this – take it easy, why not have a nap instead?). Haha! So now I feel gooooooood! And wow, sleep is better when you’re pooped.
4. Yummy dinner/new recipe. Food is good – so good.
5. Things are going well – and I am grateful for that.
