After three failed IUIs and two failed IVFs, our insurance denied me further reproductive assistance. I’m 46 now, and although it’s technically not yet impossible, it’s time for me to accept that this goal won’t ever be met. It was probably silly to have made it a goal since I have little control in this area but, well, it was something I’d hoped for. New goal, learn not be bitter about this development. No clue how I’ll go about that. :-/

How I did it: Immigrants to the Netherlands are required to prove language & cultural competence. Although you can do self-study and simply test out, most enroll in courses. The study guide for those courses is Nederlands voor Buitenlanders, which uses the Delft method of language instruction. As far as I know, that method hasn't found it's way to other languages, which is a shame. It uses text & CDs to teach vocabulary & flu… Read how I did it…
I think a lot of us think to ourselves “I wish I could …”, or “I wanna do …”. 43 Things helps me to get off my back-side and actually focus on those things, in small amounts of time so the goals aren’t overwhelming. I like being accountable to someone, somewhere, for actually committing to something, even something as small as trying 43 things! And I enjoy looking back at my goals from a year ago and seeing how many still matter (and how few don’t still matter to me!) Powerful stuff!
On May 25, 2006, our little Timo was born and joined our family just five weeks later. He’s been wonderful to have around, has a different relationship with each member of the family, and is the most playful kitty I’ve ever had (sometimes a bit TOO much so). So glad we have him!
