Backpacking

I’d like to start hiking & camping.
I’m a camper and I’m a hiker, but I’ve not combined the two.
Step one – gather a decent backpack and lightweight tent, sleeping bag, etc.
Step two – be in good enough shape to hike a long ways.
Step three – find a place and go to it.
This is kind of a long term goal. I think I’ll start working on acquiring the equipment I need to do this. In the meantime, one of my other goals is to exercise more.
By the time I have the equipment (next spring?) I should be in shape enough to find a good place to do the backpacking.

My wife and I adopted two boys from Ukraine 3 years ago.
Without reserve – this is the best thing I’ve ever done. It has changed my life and made it much more complete.

I think this one may be a good key in starting this.
My intention is to start waking up earlier (5:30???)and exercise. The true intention is to create both as a habit.
My understanding is that those who exercise early tend to make it a truly long term habit.
I plan on setting my alarm for 5:30 (maybe work toward 5 am) for tomorrow and get up and exercise. We’ll see how it works.
