Do we really know our origin?

My paper is about knowing and defining what is ethos and the ethos of being a Filipino.
Everyone of us have our own ethos or moral character. We have our own beliefs and philosophies in life. Of course, if we have it on ourselves, we also have it in terms of our nationality, our origin.
By doing this, we would be able to assess ourselves if we really know something about our nationality, and do we exactly believe that we are like that?
