Just nine months ago I weighed 250 pounds. I was depressed, sick, and miserable. As a result of starting Wellbutrin, Synthroid, and Metformin medications, I have since lost 25 pounds. Now at 225 pounds, I am still obese but I have the energy and stamina to walk longer distances at a faster pace. In the year 2012 I walked an average of 6 miles per week. My goal for 2013 is to lose another 25 pounds. Perhaps I can lose a bit more now that I have the physical and emotional capability of pushing myself to work even harder.

How I did it: In the last eight years, I have been working full-time and taking college classes when I could afford them. Now that I have finally earned my Associate's Degree, I feel ready to jump into the University arena to finish up! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have a terrible history with math class. I really never liked the subject. So, when it came down to getting my Associate's Degree, that one last math class made me fear that I would never graduate. I found a good tutor, a friend from my Toastmasters club, who was willing to give me her time for free. We became good friends through the process, and I finally have my degree! Read how I did it…
Today I weigh 225 pounds, and at 63.75 inches I have a BMI within the obese range. Losing 50 pounds would put me at 175 pounds, and I would be overweight but no longer obese.
So far this year I have learned to identify the following:
1. Goldfinch
2. Sparrow
3. Primrose
4. Gerbera Daisy
5. Grackle
6. Titmouse
7. Turtle Dove
8. Purple Archangel
9. Dogwood Tree
Eleven more to go and I’ll have reached my goal for this year! :)
