Audition for the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus in August 2008
la la la la...la la la Lah ! 4 weeks ago

Its a big deal, around here in Cincy…

I had an opportunity to audition a few years back,,,and really wanted to…but realized i didnt have the time/energy needed to make the commitment. If you make into the chorus, it is a MANDITORY weekly 2 1/2hr rehersals for 9 mos, weekend performances, and of course, total devotion to the chorus during the month of the MayFestival.
I took it seriously, and decided not to try out.

I sang in choirs in HS, and by my senior year, was good enough to be in the annual musical, make the cut into Reserve Ensemble, and compete at the A1 level. I loved it, and have missed singing in a mixed chorus ever since. There’s few opportunities to do that as an adult outside of church choirs…especially if you dont have a “spectacular” voice, but a “good enough” voice. I’ve checked into some other local choirs over the years—and theyre either professionally-based (i.e. the choir IS your life), or theyre all-women / all-men…which is fine for some, but for me there’s nothing like a Mixed Chorus. And this year, i feel like i’m able to seriously make the commitment to the MayFest’s demands…

So onto getting my voice back in shape…sipping tea and singing scales till august

Quixotic ! 4 weeks ago

i not only love the spelling of this word…its so Interesting-looking…but the sound and essense. It can be defined as:

  • foolishly impractical in the pursuit of ideals
  • marked by rash lofty romantic ideas
  • extravagantly chivalrous action

i live to be Quixotic….
