so he knew a few things about being a safe driver. I still remember every lesson he taught me. With my son turning 16, I’m anxious to get out in the parking lots and start teaching him the same things.
One of my favorite games was ‘stop on a dime’. We’d head out into a parking lot and he’d have rolls of dimes. He’d place the dimes on different areas and tell me which tire he wanted me to try and stop the over the dime on. For every dime I got right, I was able to keep. He’d have me do it in different cars too… his car, my mom’s car, a company car, etc. It was a really good way of getting a sense of how much space the car is taking up, and the tires are, especially the rear tires.
Of course, with inflation, my son feels the game should be changed to ‘stop on a half-dollar’.
