I started grad classes in January of 2009. I’ll probably finish sometime in 2011. I’m getting an M.A. in English, with a concentration in Teaching Writing & Literature.
Still working full time, but my employer is paying for some of the course costs, which is really nice.
A plan that’s been bubbling in my mind for the past few weeks is to take off after I graduate and go live in California for a year with my husband. Or Portland, Oregon. Then maybe Boston. Then considering settling down somewhere. I’m an editor, so if I could set up some stable freelancing, it wouldn’t be too hard to move around. My husband might have a little harder time finding a position. Worth a shot… ;)
I’m taking a class this semester that requires us to submit original work for publication. Genre is wide open, but I’m submitting a kind of travel writing piece to an online travel mag (hopefully). Sometimes you just need a little push—there’s no reason I couldn’t have done this on my own. I sent an email inquiry last week and have yet to hear anything. I can’t imagine they’re that busy (it’s a small mag), but I could be wrong :)
Three cheers for taking a year and three months off from this site. Not sure yet if I’ll get back into it. I remembered it when I searched for a quote, and my entry from the “share quotes” goal came up in Google—the odds?!
