Meet Josh Pertersen
I'd like to meet Josh Petersen 18 months ago

Ok, this may seem like a crazy way to do this… But it seemed like the best alternative.

As a Seattle area entrepreneur, I’ve long admired the work product of the Robot Co-Op (makers of 43things). And just tonight I read a great comment from Josh Petersen about the Robot Co-Op on the Seattle PI venture blog.

I was really impressed with Josh’s down to earth attitude, and I thought to myself, I’ve got to meet this guy.

So, here’s the question, will Josh notice this? Or, will someone else notice this and help me reach my goal.

lose the weight i need to lose and keep it off
I lost 50lbs and I've kept it off for the last 3 years. 2 years ago

My story goes something like this…

  • 3 years ago I was overweight and never exercised at all… 200lbs 5’4”...
  • I lost 50lbs in 3 months and have kept it off since.
  • Now I actually average around 140lbs.

Since then I’ve:

  • Taken up Scuba diving
  • Riden my bike over 10,000 miles in the past 2 years
  • Riden my bike over 100 miles in a day at least 20 times
  • Riden my bike over 200 miles in a day twice
  • Completed 4 triathlons
  • Completed an Ironman Triathlon
  • Run a Marathon (not counting the one in the Ironman)

I am happier, healthier, and much more relaxed at work and at home.

I truly believe, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to!

Good Luck!

finish an ironman
I did it and you can too. 2 years ago

I just did my first Ironman this past September.

My story goes something like this…

  • 3 years ago I was overweight and never exercised at all… 200lbs 5’4”...
  • I lost 50lbs in 3 months and have kept it off since. Now I actually average around 140lbs.
  • 2 years ago my wife and I decided we’d go out and buy bikes for the whole family. We got matching $200 “hybrid” Trek’s with steel frames, huge tires, shock forks and seat… etc… we also got a small bike for our then 4 year old and a trailer to pull her and her (at the time 2 year old) sister around in.
  • This bike lasted me realistically about 3 months because I started riding it every night after work (in the dark… with lights of course). I really enjoyed it… ended up riding 10-15 miles a day. Thus began my dive into endurance sports.
  • I bought a new road bike, and spent the last couple years riding my bike a lot… I’ve averaged 5,000+ miles per year. I did several century rides, and the great Seattle To Portland (STP) ride in 1 day.
  • Last year I decided to take on an Ironman. I started running and swimming. Got a stress fracture last year ramping too quickly on my running. Recovered by February, in plenty of time to train for my Ironman in Sept. But I focused on a modest goal of a 4:30 marathon leg of the Ironman.
  • I ran my Ironman, I got to spitting distance of my time goal (12:15) with a 12:17:03 finish; and a run leg of 4:32.
  • I plan to attack Grand Columbian Ironman again next year, with a goal of taking 90 minutes off my time.
