Morning – saying that she believes I’ll get through :)
Afternoon – saying to be positive and not stress (and just do what I can)
Evening – listening and encouraging :)
So much support :). And a good attitude and self-belief :)

It may be near when it seems so far

Facing life
How do we respond to life’s challenges? With what attitude? Do they overwhelm and overpower us? Are we able to play our role with poise? Do we get bowled over or do we hit a sixer?
Do we stumble, grumble and crumble or bounce back and march ahead?
Keep smiling – through all the challenges of life. In fact the challenges faced should stimulate us, the obstacles should challenge us and the difficulties bring out the best in us.
Hit a sixer – one step at a time :)
Power through (like you did last night) – make the deadline earlier!
Engage – as you have been doing
One day we will wake to find
That we are the person we dreamed of
Doing what we wanted to do
Simply because we had the courage
The self belief
And the attitude
To keep going
Many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow
Follow your dream
Take one step at a time
If you stumble, don’t stop and lose sight of your goal
Press to the top
For only on top can we see the whole view,
Can we see what we’ve done and what we can do;
Can we then have the vision to seek something new

Remember that doing things immediately will actually feel good, especially once it becomes a habit.
If you want to achieve your 2013x goal of flourishing on the inside and outside, this is how you do it :)

Flourishing :)
2012 dream – achieve :)
Flourishing (2013) – achieve :)
Finally broke through for a while today :)
Just got to keep on doing more of the same! You’ve experienced part of it again :). Eventually it will become more frequent and ingrained :)
Will have to go into 2013 :)
Made huge progress this year – see the difference between 2011 & 2012 :)
Achieved when:
- Room clean :)
- Shopping/wardrobe
- Good routines (sleep, wake, gym daily, dental)
- Fitness goals being reached (gym-ing or exercising 5x a week)
- Eating healthy (fruits, vegetables, iron, calcium, protein, fish oils)
- Taking care of appearance/impression (hair, skin, make up, clothes, fit & toned, energetic & happy)
- Calm, carefree, happy (definition of happiness)
- Confident
- Making progress with LAW—> becoming who I want to be (this will keep on going but just need to be moving along that path)
- Contributing to happiness/peace of family
- Can mark off “self-discipline” (in the habit of starting immediately, sticking to it, working with EI focus and speed)
- Getting things done early and promptly
- Have hobbies
- Succeeding/meeting my study goals :)
- Know that when I set my mind to something, I will achieve it
- Good balance between study, hobbies, family and friends! :D (with a focus on the latter next year!)
- Be organised: with both time (getting things done early) and with study/my room/wardrobe/etc
- Have marked off “flourishing”
Would like to have achieved it by December 2013
But perhaps I’ll be lucky and finish it even earlier! :)
I can start some of it right from December this year :)
Deep pervasive sense of peace and calm
Very confident – stable and very strong sense of confidence and knowing everything is going to work out
Productive – firing on all cylinders (energy, focus, motivation) and driven
Focused on study entire day (singleminded focus on study) – no distractions or other focus
Being all 3 regardless of other factors, knowing that these factors will make meeting my goal even more likely and much more enjoyable! I will meet my goal and be able to thoroughly enjoy my rewards anyway :)
May as well get towards them feeling like this for the next 5 weeks :)
And really enjoy the 1 week with this exact feeling, and the feeling I’ve had in the past
Self-discipline – means learning how to focus your mind and energies on your goals and persevere until they are accomplished.
It also means cultivating a mindset whereby you are ruled by your deliberate choices rather than by your emotions, bad habits or the sway of others.
Self-discipline – as you get to Level 1 (100), Level 2 (200), Level 3 (300) and so on (to Level 10 – 1000), you will find that
- It helps build self-confidence.
- You accomplish more and are therefore more productive.
- You are able to maintain a higher tolerance (resilience and acceptance) for frustration, obstacles and negative emotions.
- Allows you to obtain better health, better finances, a good work ethic (for you, better health, spiritual growth (peace & good), good study and learning and skills, lifestyle you want to be living – study, friends, family, hobbies, exercise, sleep, healthy diet, free time all with the attitude and habits you want – calm, peace, happiness, exhilaration, joy, motivation).
- You are able to reach your most difficult goals more efficiently.
- The more disciplined you become, the easier life gets.
One step at a time (45min session or otherwise).
Set a task, start immediately, have exam focus speed and intensity and stick with the task/target until it’s done :)

To mark this off, I need to do it with 110% effort and focus.
I will mark the 7 days off if:
- I write my priority list every night for the next day.
- I really try to follow the NYR checklist, and mark it off every night.
- I focus, each day, on completing my priority list (if I have been unproductive, I turn that around – but I do not spend an entire day without even trying to complete my list).
- I have no doubt about whether I have or have not properly achieved this goal. If I ask myself, “have I written my priority list every night for the next day, focused and given my 110% that day to completing my priority list, and really tried to follow and mark off my NYR checklist every day?” and I can say a definite YES, with conviction, with no doubt in my mind, proud of myself and feeling that I have definitely seen a difference (a big leap forward! progress) in my habits this week, then and only then can I mark off this goal :)
I’m going to stick to the upward spiral =)
I’m already feeling more motivated and enjoying myself more! Just got to keep this going =)
And keep being positive and see and congratulate myself for the progress I’ve made =)
This is probably the biggest mountain – but once I get this done (and I feel I have the burst of energy required! Just got to channel that into speed and keep up my focus), everything remaining are small very manageable mountains.
The corner, the floor under the desk, the floor under the bed, the floor, the curtains, the CC, the OC, the BT, the drawers for the desk. All do-able =)
So atm, you are at 20% =). Finish this goal and you will be at 50%. Everything else should only take about 30mins each, and be about 5-10% each =).
You are just practicing:
Doing what you decide to do. Action. (Action leads to motivation leads to action).
Enjoying yourself as much as possible.
Working fast.
Sticking with your task :).
If you get yourself in the habit of acting, you will abe very productive and will achieve all that you set your mind to – and your 2012 dream :).
If you get yourself in the habit of acting immediately, working fast and sticking to your task, you will achieve your goals as fast as possible – ie. your 2012 dream as fast as possible.
If you get yourself in the habit of enjoying what you’re doing as much as possible, no matter what, you will enjoy yourself heaps! :)
And all of the above is a part of your 2012 dream :).
So be like the team on Feb 28 – go for it!! :)
Practice the above skills and get yourself on that upward spiral (and in the habit of putting yourself on the upward spiral) with cleaning your room.
Just like climbing the 1000 steps. And just like the man who lost 5kg one week, 10kg the next and 30 kg the week after!! You’ll be able to do more and more! :)
And also remember your fortresses :).
By the end of May, I hope my goals accomplished reach 150 :).CR, 70/70, 100/100, 2 others.
RRR: 3mins/case.
Go! =)
3:30. 20mins. Go!!!
Just an hour =). And just 10min bursts =).
Focus on getting through as much as you can as quickly as you can. Skim read but only make notes of the essentials =). Remember tonight that you want to ME, WH, streamline the 6, listen to HS, and go over as much of this as you can.
Get the most out of this next hour. And then you can take a break =)
Really go for this one. When you commit yourself to an hour, if you try to make it as productive as possible, you’ll end up doing really well over time (over the PHs) =).
Commit to 10mins. Can take a 5min break if you like. Commit to another 10mins, etc =). And in that 10mins, absolute focus =).
At 4:30, I will give myself 30-40mins for that other task that has been waiting =)
Prove to yourself how much you can do in an hour =)
Hasn’t everything so far led you right?
When you forgot everything/your worries/your hurts (well, tried =p – but each little bit you succeeded in helped!) and did your duty – focused on the 1000 steps which you had laid out for yourself – look where it led you =). You got through last year =). And it brought you to this point in time, where things are wonderful, 1 year after.
Remember you struggled quite a bit with the 1000 steps at the beginning … you would complete 6 steps in a week at one point near the beginning. The first 10 steps took you a very long time. But you would have bursts where you completed 100 in one go. And then you would have lulls again. But there was an underlying upward trend. And look at yourself now! You’re much more confident, much happier, much more peaceful, much more secure. Things are much easier than they were then. You have a different perspective, and you look at your life and see many treasures =). You believe you are capable of much more than you felt capable of at that point in time. You focus much better and you rarely get the depressing low-confidence feeling you used to get last year. Much of this (especially the peace, the happiness, letting go) was a result of time. It was taken care of on it’s own and there was not that much you could do other than wait patiently, faithfully and trust – and commit yourself to your duty. But others, things which are habits, you fostered in yourself. You did the 1000 steps. You might not yet be used to a burst of a productive high but that will become more prevalent over the coming months, and then lengthen into a sustained productive high. One day, you will look at your life and realise that it’s a habit for you. That it’s easy to keep up – that you don’t even really need to try to have your life be constantly in that productive, peaceful, high state.
Compare your life and feelings and peace and happiness now to this time last year. Consider also how much you’ve learned and how much stronger and more resilient you are. Many of the beliefs and goals you have now were not ones which you had entertained at this time last year (Feb 26th).
I want to spend the majority of my time productively =).
See how things in the past have led to this point in time?
The events at the beginning of last year and the way you felt made you feel you needed to refocus and change. You wanted to be spurred on to something greater, you wanted to get something out of the experience. Like that seed which has to rupture before it can blossom into a tree/flower.
All you need is to look at yourself at this time last year (Feb 26th) and look at yourself now and you will see how different you are, how much more you know and that you see yourself going down a different path then you did at that time last year. Your perspective is different. And I think you are more resilient and prepared for whatever may come in the future. I think that if you were to enter into a relationship, you would do a much better job and deal with things much better now than you would have 1.5 years ago (well, than you did 1.5years ago =p) or at this time last year (Feb 26th). I think that you are now able to let things go much more easily – or at least have more experience and better understanding of what will benefit in a particular situation. You have been newly introduced to the idea of surrendering control over your own life and events, and just doing your duty. You still are practicing doing your duty but you will get there =).
To start over. See how things in the past have led to this point in time?
The events of the beginning of 2011 led to you becoming who you are now =). And being able to do what you are able to do now, and leading you to where you are going =).
They spurred the 1000 steps. The 1000 steps spurred a lot. They got you through the year =). They gave you confidence. They are an example which you can remember for the future when you think of persisting with something for 6 months. You have done it before to get into your course. This is another example. They spurred your vision of your dream, of what you want to work towards.
Once the 1000 steps were finished, your next goal was to be happy and peaceful again =). You have achieved that to what you would judge an adequate extent =). You see the next steps, after the 1000 steps, and achieving this current level of happiness and peace to be completely conquering procrastination. And also to become more mindful. And to come closer to your goal of happiness and peace.
You have discovered goals along the way. Like becoming the girl who you would like to be. You’ve learned new things along the way. Like the idea of surrendering control and simply doing your duty while trusting in something more powerful to work everything out for your best.
Where do I think I am going from here?
I’ve completed the 1000 steps. I am happy, I feel calm, I have a certain level of confidence and strength, and I am quite peaceful as well (though there is still some way to go still).
I see my next steps as practicing these productive/peaceful hours. In conjunction with 10min bursts -> 15min bursts -> 20mins bursts -> 30min bursts -> 45min bursts. And being able to do 60min bursts as well.
Just like the 1000 steps, I think I will see things evolve with the productive/peaceful hours. I believe I will see that a progressively larger amount of my day will be spent productively =).
I think it will eventually just be a habit to spend the majority of my time productively. I also believe that this will help me in becoming mindful =). I believe that once this has happened and become streamlined and an every day part of my day, I will be able to mark off my goal of “stop procrastinating”. I see this happening around April 17th 2012 =).
I see that the next step on from this is focusing on individual goals and achieving them. As well as living out my timetable and achieving balance. For my everyday to become streamlined and easy as well. I can see meditation and exercise and adequate sleep and good relationships with family and friends and achieving other goals and studying on par with my expectations of myself for this year, and perhaps other things which I am not quite sure of – like wed sessions – integrating into my life and furthering me with my happiness/peace goal, my goal of who I want to become and the dream life I am working myself towards.
By April 17th, when I can mark off “stop procrastinating”, I feel that I will be able to set my mind on a goal and achieve it. A better way to say this is that I will be able to determine my duty and carry it out immediately and with a wonderful feeling inside (with happiness, calm, peace, confidence, enthusiasm, faith, strength). It will be a habit to do what I must do =).
After April 17th, I will just strengthen this habit and further ingrain it by setting goals/duties and achieving/doing them. Another 6 months, just like my 1000 steps. I think at this stage, I will be working towards creating my dream life. And I think this is the stage where I will truly be seeing myself flourishing externally. I believe that even from now, with my productive/peaceful hours, I will see myself flourishing more and more. But importantly, I will have glimpses of the feeling which I want to be my everyday. I will feel some of that productive/peaceful high, I will feel some of that opportunity of just sinking into my own space/my own world and finding study or my other duties as a source of deep peace and happiness and enjoyment and exhilaration. I think I will see glimpses of this to begin with. But over the next few weeks (and I believe I will be able to see change when I assess every few days – consider the difference today and yesterday – actually concentrating! – compared to last Thur when I had not really had that experience in quite that way). Eventually, I will return to making almost every hour of my day count (I will see the amount of productive/peaceful hours increase) and I will also see an increase in the depth of the peace/happiness/productivity. Trust that you will see this over time. But for now, just focus on your duty.
I will schedule in times for my PH =). And I will make that appointment! =)
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing how these PHs progress! By PH10, where will I be? By PH20, where will I be? By PH25/30/50/75/90/100, where will I be? The PH doesn’t have to be an hour, btw – it is any amount of time which I have allocated and scheduled into my day =)
I want to be someone who focuses and studies in the free time she has at home so that she can set aside a block of time for her other goals, and so that she can enjoy herself and relax whenever she wants to.
I want to be very productive. At the moment, I spend about an hour of my free time everyday actually engaged in something productive which I want myself to be doing (excluding the times when I am having fun because I wouldn’t and don’t need to change that – it’s the one part of this dream which I am achieving! =p).
If I have a Sat or Sun free (so 12 free hours at home), I want myself to spend the equivalent of 7hrs productively engaged in my study (plus another 1.5 hours break interspersed) and at least another 2/3 on other goals. Some time might get spent another way but I wouldn’t notice it. How’s that sound? =)
I can pretty much start living that right now =)
I will, from 10:30-12:00, make my time that productive =)
5 things which make you really happy (or look for opportunities)
*Arrange these 5 things – can celebrate April 17th anniversary soon =)
... can include impromptu free seshes, pampering, appearance related (shopping, skin, hair, eyebrows), make photo album, read book, extra scheduled exam practice sesh (with 1 or 2 friends, or group) and can even include a day to learn/study a particular thing all day at the library (have a super productive, calming day where you achieve heaps – don’t need to focus/think about anything other than your study goal) if you like =)
