There are so many countries I want to see and cultures I want to immerse myself in… My true dream in life is to travel the world, finding a way to make just as much money as I need to go to the next country and live a modest, happy life. I want to have friends from every corner of the planet and learn some new languages while I’m at it.

How I did it: I posted ads on many penpal websites(search Google to find these- also if you want penpals from a specific country, for instance you can search "Chinese penpals" and find websites specifically for penpals from China!)I spoke to many people via e-mail before only actually writing hand-written letters to a few. Now I write to two people from Germany, one person from Japan, one person from Korea, and one person from China. I am always excite… Read how I did it…
I am 1/4 Italian, and even though it is not much, I am connected deeper with the Italian part of my heritage more than anything else. My mother and I are both in love with the culture of Italy and it is one of our dreams to visit the country together some day. Sadly, we have never had the money to do this, and we don’t know who would care for our many pets even if we did. :(
This is the one of the three Asian languages that I wish to learn that I am more on my way with. I’ve memorized my Hiragana, most of my Katakana, and a small amount of Kanji. I really need to work on grammar, though. I have all sorts of resources- from nice glossy Kanji flashcards, to two books about grammar, a book about particles, a book of the 1,900 Kanji, two Japanese-English and English-Japanese dictionaries, children’s books in Japanese, many audio CD’s for vocabulary, many good resourceful websites in my bookmarks, and even a magazine + audio version subscription to Hiragana Times. My problem is that I’ve been slacking! I think I need to take a class to discipline me into working harder on it.
