Being a light skinned redhead, I’ve always had trouble with sunburn.
I lost my bro-in-law to melanoma last Christmas and ever since then I’ve gone to my dermatologist regularly and am trying to get into the habit of putting sun block on my face every time I go outside.

Many years ago a friend quit working in downtown corporate Dallas and opened a shop with used “everything.” She named it “GRATITUDE.” Every time I would drive past it I would REALIZE how important BEING grateful is and how EASY it is to FORGET it. Think about this: If you pass this on to someone else and so on and so forth, I feel it will make a positive difference in all of us.

Reconnect with my deep love of music. I developed a love of music when my sister spoke with the band director about me before school ended in May. Very quickly I was walking home from grade school with a tuba around my neck and body! I put it in my clubhouse deep in our backyard. The “clubhouse” was actually an old chicken shack with remnants of army boxes and the occasional feather. I had to make another trip to the band hall to get the stand, but I got it. This is how my introduction to music began. I had all summer to practice scales and read sheet music in bass clef. I think I probably had an occasional meeting with the band director that summer, but I’m not clear on that. I know it got pretty warm in that old chicken shack by July. I was accepted into the band the following September. I was in the 8th grade. I marched without playing in the first football half-time of the season! This initial experience was my launching pad to classical music. The band had two seasons of the year – marching band during football season and concert band after football season was over until the school year ended.
