Well, I’ve kinda done this! Maybe in the future I’ll expand it into a real brick & mortar shop, but for now I have a vintage store on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=47219

It’s going pretty well and I’m happy with being in charge of the whole process. I don’t think this is what I originally intended to do with this goal, but I like what I’ve got going! :)

So far, so good! I’m just keeping a set of these on my flickr account -

It’s been interesting! Some days I forget until the last minute and come up with something lame. But I usually have my camera with me all the time and take a lot of pictures anyway, so it’s not too hard.

progress! 16 months ago

I still daydeam about my own business ALL THE TIME. The home-based bakery is still in the running (but can’t be done until I own a home with a certifiable kitchen), and I did actually take all of those cake decorating classes that I mentioned a year ago. :) I have had several people pay me to make cakes for them, and it’s okay but it’s hard to do just on the side every once in a while when you work a completely different full time job.

My list of possible business ideas has expanded to used clothing store (sort of along the lines of Buffalo Exchange), coffee shop, bakery/coffee shop/ice cream parlor (YES, PLZ), and also to Bed & Breakfast—though that one would probably not happen for quite a long time. I’m also hoping to start using recycled materials to make stuff and sell on Etsy.

The best thing of all is that I’m married now, and I’m married to a creative and supportive person! And he’s an even better baker than me! Ahhh!! We have too many ideas together and most all of them involve collaborating to write books. We have a website now!

I’m sure we’ll start a business of some sort one day.
