He’s the best artist I’ve seen in Barcelona. Lots of samples of his work on the website, so it’s worth taking a peek.

Some days ago I saw my sister working at her place with a project for the University. She was using a program called Rhino 3D, and the more she worked, the more I felt interested in it. So finally she let me give it a try. After 4 days practising non-stop, I tried to built my second bass, but this time in the computer. I look forward having time enough to start with this with real wood and sweat, but for the meantime here you have some results!
Cye!

Some time ago I thought it would be a great thing to build my own bass guitar. I never had budget enough to buy a terrific Fender P-Bass or a Rickenbacker, so I had to resign myself playing Squier or Cheapo basses. One day I got an electric guitar from my cousin, a Cheapo one, which sounded like shit, but looked fancy enough to give it a try on a stage. I started to look into it and decided to try something. I changed the pickups (the crappiest thing I’ve ever seen) for a pair of nice Danelectro lipstick ones. I had to mess up all the electronics, and now this guitar sounds incredible when playing rock’n’roll, reggae and surf.
But I’ve never played the guitar regularly, since my instrument is the bass guitar. So I decided to build one from scratch. You cannot even imagine the LOTS of information available on the net for such a purpose. So with a little bit of time, some money (but do not expect hundreds of it) and a LOT of effort I could build my first bass. It is a Precision Bass, loaded with a pair of Seymour Duncan Fat Pole pickups, that sounds like Jay Bentley’s from Bad Religion. I called it Ironhorse. Nice name!
The specs:
Maple body
Bolt-on Canadian maple neck
European maple fretboard (softer woods give a warmer sound)
Red carey inlays
Red carey neck binding
Some golden hardware (Why is it so difficult to find???)
It’s the first bass of a new family of basses that I’m trying to grow. As always, just ask if you feel interested in the process. I’ll post some interesting links about guitar building one of these days.
