Just yesterday, outside the supermarket there were these guys with a table of cards that they were selling for $3. The money was going to an organisation that helps people get off the benefit, and get jobs to support themselves. I thought, wow, that’s actually something I would consider donating to. I told them I would go into the supermarket, get some change, and buy their cards on the way out. $3 isn’t much, but it’s something.
When I came out, they were gone.

How I did it: I started off just mental-noting things that I realised made me happy. Then I started making them into a list, and I found that with each entry, I had at least 5 or 10 things in my mental bucket. With everything I wrote, I asked myself - does it really make me happy? Does thinking about/seeing/doing this thing make my day and improve my mood? If the answer was no, I figured it was just something that I liked, and I replaced it with someth… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went clubbing with my friend, after weeks of talking about going.I knew she really wanted to dance but I couldn't do it - I was nervous! She bought me a drink or three, then dragged me out onto the dancefloor. I was a bit slow into it at first, but the club was crowded and the music was loud and I felt so comfortable, it was easy! Plus, I was wearing my new shoes and skinny jeans - made me feel super confident. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I live on a farm, and when my boyfriend came over to visit, we went for a walk in our gumboots and thick sweatshirts up the back of the farm, to a small creek. We were jumping in muddy puddles (probably a mix various types of animal poop and water) then when we were walking back home, it was raining a lot and he pulled me over to him and kissed me. Yay! I quite often go through all my 43Things goals, just to see if there are any I’ve done without thinking about it as a goal.
This is one of them, I realise now, thinking about it, that I’ve kind of semi-succeeded in this. I had a party for NYE, and talked to people I’ve never really talked to before. I have two workmates who are now friends outside of work, and a few weeks ago, I went out with my friend’s flatmates, without said friend! (I count that as an achievement. Stepping out of my comfort zone, somehow!)
So I tried to do this a while back, when travelling around New Zealand with my boyfriend.
We spent about two hours walking to it from the city center of Rotorua, then when we got there, it was about $70 NZ.
No thank you, we decided (we were travelling on a rather tight budget.)
I’m actually really disappointed that we didn’t do it, but I’ll go back one day.
If you’re not sure what on earth a Zorb is, it’s basically a big plastic bubble that you get stuck in, and roll down a hill.

I actually thought it was only in New Zealand, but apparently there’s one in Smokey Mountains, USA. Not entirely sure where that is, to be honest
One day I’ll do this. I’ll do it with water, I think. It’ll be great.
