I have always had ADD but I was diagnosed at age 23 – I am now 28. Since diganosis and treatment began, I have improved immensely in managing an adult life – paying the bills, showing up to things on time as often as possible, keeping up with my wallet, keys, and phone, not waiting until the last minute to do things, trying not to interrupt people when they are talking, trying not to talk so much. However, I have realized that ADD is a way of life, and it is never going to be cured. My brain ( I love my brain, I really do) is always going to operate in a certain way, and I have to maximize the advantages while minimizing the disadvantages. It’s a lifelong struggle.
