I bought a Hello Harvest and think it was a good choice for my first Blythe. I researched a TON about what type of doll I wanted and must have looked at thousands of pictures. I had several favorites so it was hard to decide, but it came down to a comparisson of prices, versatility of the doll, and of course the clothes she came with :) It ended up costing around $150 all said and done. Although I’d never admit to non-Blythe people how much she cost, I think she’s worth every penny and I plan to buy more when I have more “play money”

How I did it: I found a website with instructions for measuring your face to determine its true shape, because trying to guess is too hard. Turns out I have an "inverted diamond," or (in less flattering words) a pear shape. I was bummed about having a big lower face but when I googled my options there were lots of cute haircuts that were designed to balance things out. I got one that was similar to the "Rhianna" or kind of like Goldie Hawn's … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I spent a lot of time on thisisblythe.com looking at pictures, reading entries, and researching the differences between all the different dolls. It was overwhelming at first but it developed into an obsessive quest. Some of my favorites were eliminated by high cost, but there are dolls under $100. In the end I decided on a Hello Harvest, which is one of the "cheaper" models. (Cost is usually determined by whether or not the doll was … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I got a degree in English and worked for about a year at a job I disliked. I decided to go back to school for a teaching degree while I was still young didn't have a husband or kids. I went back to a local college and lived with my parents to save money. It took longer than I expected because classes I needed weren't always offered when I needed them. It was very frustrating at times because I just wanted a real job, but I did find s… Read how I did it…

I got a D in home ec the semester we did sewing. My only D in school ever. Evil woman. Despite that experience, I’ve always wanted to sew so I can make and alter clothes.
I have a beautiful “record cabinet” (now just a coffee table, sadly) I inherited from my grandma but the finish is ruined from people setting drinks on it w/out coasters. (EVIL!) My dad is a pro at refinishing furniture, so it’s just a matter of getting us both to clear our schedules on a saturday for some lessons…
