How I did it: I started from a history of road and park running - mainly around London. When I was much younger I used to do quite a lot of hill walking but in retrospect I should have a lot more mountain training - fell running etc etc. We set off really well but after four hours my calves were twanging like a banjo and the idea of running the descents was not even an option. How I did it: 1. Don't shave2. Trim with a beard trimmer3. Don't shave4. Think about using hair conditioner on the beard (it makes it softer)5. Get used to being able to see something on your face.6.
