I am getting there! So far in my pile to take to the Salvation Army I have: two DVD players, a microwave, VHS tapes I can’t watch anymore because I don’t have a VCR since we got a new TV, a gas grill, an area rug, and some books. I am also in the process of working on my clothes, which should make up a large portion of my give-away pile.
I also went through my toiletries (shower gels, lotions, face creams, etc) and threw out old or icky-looking ones. Since I have been moving at least once a year since I started college four years ago, they have been living in a little suitcase…which is organizationally good, but means that I never would use them – out of sight, out of mind. So I set up a little shelf in my bathroom for the ones that are still good, and I’m looking forward to chipping away at them! It feels so nice to purge through all of my boxes…hopefully the new townhouse will motivate me! :)
Kind of a buzz-kill, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to accomplish this by my goal time of January 1st…which should make for a frugal start to the New Year. Hopefully I will only have about 300-400 dollars left at that point though, and I should be able to start paying it off quicker once Christmas and all of the spending that comes with it is out of the way. I am bummed out, as I really wanted to go into the New Year with no debt (except for the car payment I took out after making this goal, which I’m not counting…just credit card debt). Oh well…I’m almost there.
Am not doing the oly next weekend…work has been insane lately (60+ hours a week), and I want to make sure I’m in decent shape to finish. Also, I don’t want to be injured again. However, there is still one in Georgia that I am doing in May, in one of my favorite places in the world! I should be in better shape then, and even if something comes up, the course is fast and flat, so it should be doable…a good first international distance.
