Learn to DJ
I went from just another clubber to DJ Stevie Sofa in about 6 months 2 years ago

The DJ artform is not well understood by most people, many think they can just jump up and play tunes and thats all there is to it. My desire to DJ came out of hearing to many fools playing pop crap when there is sooooo much more audible goodness out there. If you dont love good music dont become a DJ. There are plenty of
The last few years i have been obsessed with minimal.
And the fun just gets better.
Once of the most satisfying things I have done is pull off a good set.
If you hearts in the right place go for it but if you want to do it for the glory you need to re-examine you motives.

I was lucky in the fact that through my social life I bdefriended some really good DJ's into quality dance music that makes move and think. I discovered a record label called Ninja Tune and got right into their sound which is more lounge/funk/jazz oriented although essentially eclectic. It took me about 6 months before I was beat mixing in public. I later started cranking out breaks house and drum n bass. Oh what fun.

read Agile Web Development with Rails
This book is great both 1st and 2nd edition 2 years ago

I have been building PHP apps for years
Rails sparked my interest, and really hooked me
while at Apple’s WWDC 2006.
I grabbed the book and could not put it down.
Consumed me from day 1. I have since got the PDF of the 2nd edition and they both rock, not only as a good guide to rails development but also agile iterative process.

Master Ruby on Rails
Hooked by Rails 2 years ago

After many years of frustration developing PHP applications
I was looking for a web framework to invest my time in. As had given up building my own I loked at the many options in PHP.
I saw Rails and was impressed but was not so keen on learning yet another language. I tried cake code ignitor among others
and found them to be missing something important that I could not quite figure out. While attendting Apple’s WWDC 2006 in San Francisco, I saw some great demos with Rails, and saw Apple adding it to OS X Leopard. Later that day I found myself at Borders Books buying Agile Web Development with Rails.
I have now digested th 1st and 2nd editions as well as rails recipes and am now going through Programming Ruby.
I am now a total convert, Ruby and Rails have made me a better programmer and have allowed me to build vey effective web applications in a fraction of the time a PHP application would take. I recently joined a team of developers working on a code igniter project, and realised how painful PHP really is after working with Rails. This project has now come back to us with the client requesting migration to rails. I have inadvertantly
landed exactly where I want to thanks to Rails.
So this leads me to my goal of truely mastering Ruby on Rails a path I am already striding down with confidence and satisfaction.
