Hey, I did well for about a week and then fell off the wagon. Hard. But I really liked the feeling of staying off the net that first week, getting a lot more done. So after that trial run, February is going to be the real deal.
Here’s what will keep me going:
- email my buddy each day to confirm I didn’t do any extracurricular browsing
- use computer without laptop connection as much as possible
- when tempted, step away from the keyboard!
- if I go 29 days internet-free, I will give myself a nice reward
I think if I can go 29 days on this resolution, it will have helped me break some old patterns.

It’s simple. I want to spend less time on the Internet and more time doing creative, meaningful things.
Cold turkey is the only way to go. As of January 22, I will only use the Internet for email and work-related stuff until the end of February. Hopefully the mindless surfing habit will be broken by then.
I’ll track my progress here, and also email my mom every day to report in.
Now, to think of a reward for myself …
