I’d also recommend reading Encyclopedia Britannica. It doesn’t matter which year. You will be suprised how interesting these books are.

I have had degus for many years, starting with a breeding pair and eventually moving to my current 7 relatives. The are wonderful pets, they can recognize people they know from strangers and predict when you are going for the treats.
You have to be careful, though, as they can’t have sugar or sugary treats. I use rabbit pellets and the occasional sweet potato.

We visit the zoo capys often, and they are such wonderful animals. The babies look like long-legged guinea pigs, and the adults are as interactive as dogs with the cuteness of degus or guinea pigs.
